Globe Telecom announced on Monday it will extend providing its subscriber’s free data access to get resource materials from websites of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and other educational platforms until 2022.

These platforms include websites of the Department of Education (DepEd) Commons and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), as well as the Globe eLibrary, an online platform which features eLearning videos and age-appropriate and engaging e-books.

This means that for the school year 2021-2022, Globe and TM subscribers will not incur data charges when accessing those websites. It does not include free access to pages that users may need to open outside of TESDA, DepEd Commons, and CHED’s domain.

“We endeavor to help enhance opportunities for self-learning by making quality content available to teachers and students. We hope our customers will take advantage of this free service to DepEd, CHED, and TESDA for their online learning requirements,” Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s chief sustainability officer, said in a statement.

TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña earlier told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that Globe started providing free access to TESDA’s online courses in August last year. This enabled individuals to learn various skills from the TESDA Online Program (TOP).

“Through Globe’s support, our online courses are made more accessible,” he said.

Most of the TOP courses are only short courses that learners could complete, compared to full qualifications.
