Last June 30, VP Leni Robredo led the oath-taking of Cong. Kit Belmonte, who was re-elected to represent the 6th District of Quezon City. In a Facebook post, Robredo expressed that Belmonte continue to “strive for excellence and integrity” in the service of his constituents.
Born in Baguio City, Belmonte asserts his position as a consummate public servant, since he had spent the majority of his life working as a public interest lawyer, community organizer, and an NGO worker. As a champion of social justice and human rights, Belmonte has also been a member of the Climate Change, Higher and Technical Education, Housing and Urban Development, and Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Committees of the 16th Congress.
As shared on a separate Facebook post, Robredo also led the oath-taking ceremony of Vice Mayor Henry Bacurnay and the municipal councilors of Bauang, La Union. The Vice President urged the newly elected officials “to promote good governance and prioritize the well-being of their constituents”.
Upon his oath-taking in La Union on the previous day, Vice Mayor Henry A. Bacurnay expressed his gratitude to all those who voted for him, pledging his service to them, since “I saw you. You heard me. I heard you.” He also reiterated his support of Mayor Menchie de Guzman and promised that they would be “listening leaders”. All in all, Bacurnay hopes to embody a Christian leadership which is tempered by justice and compassion for the poor.
Finally, Robredo also shared her congratulations for Vice Mayor Dondon Atienza, Jr. of Libmanan, Camarines Sur. In another Facebook post which showcased Robredo leading the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected Vice Mayor, Robredo hoped for all the best for Atienza as he serves his constituents and “leads their town to progress”; as it can be recalled, Robredo was elected Congresswoman of Camarines Sur in 2013.
