2020-21 Bar Exams Records Highest Passing Rate Since WW2

A reported 8,241 examinees out of the 11,402 takers successfully passed the 2020-2021 Bar Exams, making its 72.28% passing rate the highest for the exams since 1954.

The Supreme Court released the results on Tuesday, April 12 where Associate Justice Marvic Leonen dubbed it as the “Best Bar Ever”.

In lieu of the Top 10, there are 761 bar passers who are recognized for their exemplary performance with grades ranging from 85% to 90%, accounting for 9.23% of total passers.

In addition, 14 passers achieved an excellent grade of above 90%.

“All these are historic achievements,” Leonen added.

Meanwhile, the 2020-21 exam is the first to be administered digitally.

The exam also earlier recorded the highest ever number of takers as it was originally scheduled in 2020 and 2021. After numerous delays, the Bar Exams pushed through on February 4 and 6 in 31 remote testing sites with two batches of law graduates participating. 

The 2022 Bar chair, Associate Justice Benjamin Caguioa further shared that he will be retaining the digitized and regionalized format of the 2020-2021 Bar. 

The highest passing rate recorded for the Bar Exams was 75.17% during the 1954 Bar Exams.
