The three positive coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients in Albay province have refused to be brought to the designated Covid-19 referral facility here and opted to remain on self-quarantine in their respective homes.
Early Tuesday, the Albay Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) said the three persons tested positive for Covid-19 and currently undergoing self-quarantine would be taken for admission to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) quarantine facility.
Albay IATF Chairman, Governor Al Francis Bichara, in a phone interview, said this would ensure that the patients would be closely monitored and given the necessary treatment until their condition improves.
“I already directed Dr. Antonio Ludovice, provincial health office chief, to coordinate and ask the patient and their family if they are willing to be taken to the quarantine facility for close medical observation of Covid symptoms,” Bichara said.
But in a separate interview, Ludovice said the three patients who are currently about to complete their 14-day mandatory self-quarantine, resisted the proposal, preferring to remain in their homes where they feel more comfortable.
The provincial Covid-19 tracker indicates that Albay has three confirmed cases, two patients under investigation, and 25,581 persons under monitoring. (PNA)
