The Pasig City government has announced Thursday (July 2) as a special non-working holiday in observance of the 447th “Araw ng Pasig” anniversary, with Mayor Vico Sotto poised to deliver a “state of the city” address.
“May mga planong naantala ng Covid-19, ngunit tayo’y nasa tamang direksyon. Ngayong Araw ng Pasig, ika-2 ng Hulyo, magbibigay ako ng State of the City Address — ulat ukol sa progreso ng ating unang taon (Some plans were deferred due to Covid-19, but we are in the right track. This coming Araw ng Pasig, July 2, I will give a State of the City Address — a report on the city’s progress of our first year in service,” Sotto said in a social media post Wednesday.
Sotto said the local government has already received the Presidential Proclamation 975, series of 2020, declaring July 2 as a special non-working day in Pasig City.
Sotto said the celebration will be done online as part of the preventive measures against the coronavirus pandemic.
“Walang malaking pagdiriwang dahil sa (there will be no big celebration because of) Covid-19. Please stay tuned to our PIO FB (Public Information Office Facebook) page for some online events tomorrow,” he said.
In a separate advisory, the Pasig City government announced that the operations of its “Libreng Sakay” will be temporarily suspended in line with the Araw ng Pasig celebration.
The free transport service operations will resume Friday (July 3). (PNA)
