Agusan del Norte 1st District Representative Lawrence “Law” Fortun backs President Rodrigo Duterte’s move to enact Republic Act 11510 or Alternative Learning System Act.
The RA 11510 dedicated a learning center in all cities and municipalities for students with disabilities, out-of-school children, and adults who aim to finish basic education.
The law will also benefit indigenous communities.
“I thank President Rodrigo Duterte for signing into law these important reforms and milestone in alternative learning system,” Fortun said. “The law provides for bridging mechanism for ALS completers to higher education.”
According to Fortun, the approval is timely because learners are unlikely to conduct face-to-face classes on the upcoming School Year 2021-2022.
In the event that this mode of learning resumes, older students from Grade 9 to college would only be allowed to participate.
For those who wish to join the program, the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Alternative Learning System is free. No solicitations or payments are required to enroll.
