Anakalusugan Party-list Representative Mike Defensor is distraught over the overcharged EasyTrip transactions that were aired out by social media users.

The congressman made this conclusion after many riders complained on social media.

Despite going on short trips, riders in the North Luzon Express Way (NLEX) still paid for the whole entire length of the express way, or sometimes charged twice.

Due to the overwhelming complaints, Defensor shared that he saw one social media user calling Easytrip “Easythief”.

Another user also fell victim of disappearing load, which they say is basically “high-tech pangongotong (extortion)”

According to Defensor, complainants would only get the templated “Our apologies for the inconvenience….we will get back to you as soon as possible” response when reaching out to their platforms.

“The promise of a future communication is just that – a promise, prompting customers to comment that it was a robot that replied to them ,” he said.

With this, the congressman calls on the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) to act on the mishaps.

“The DOTr and the TRB have to compel the operator to fix these issues. Otherwise, the government’s cashless, contactless toll payment program in expressways will never be fully implemented,” he added.

Around 250,000 vehicles use NLEX every day.
