The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has published its calendar of activities for the next national and local elections on May 9, 2022.
Comelec Resolution No. 10695 was promulgated on February 10, and published in the Commission’s official website last February 13.
During the election and campaign period, and on election day itself, the poll body listed prohibited acts such as the bearing or transporting of firearms or any other deadly weapons (Sec. 32, R.A. 7166), holding of fairs, cockfights, boxing, horse races or any other similar sport. (Sec. 261 (dd) (3), OEC), and the suspension of local officials. (Sec. 261 (x), OEC).
The filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for all elective positions is from October 1 to October 8, 2021, including Saturdays and Sundays.
The same period also applies to the filing of lists of nominees; certificates of appointment and nomination; and acceptance of nomination as well as affidavits of existing party-list groups, coalitions and organizations.
Comelec will start posting the tentative list of candidates on its website and the offices where the COCs were filed on October 29, 2021 so aspirants can check their names that would appear on the official ballots.
