The Office of Vice President (OVP) lead by Leni Robredo rolled out a mobile testing laboratory to help decongest and prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in hospitals around the metro.

The mobile laboratory aims to provide free COVID-19 test, blood test, and x-ray to patients referred by their doctors from E-Konsulta.

“We tried this initiative to support the Bayanihan E-Konsulta. This is very replicable and very doable,” Robredo said in a video message posted on her official Facebook page.

Bayanihan E-Konsulta is an online teleconsultation platform that allows volunteer doctors to assess the condition of an outpatient who has limited resources and access to medical services.

The mobile laboratory is conducted in a van with two ambulance vehicles on the side to transport patients. Robredo noted that patients do not need to line up in hospitals anymore as these services can be done at least once a week.

“Naghahanap kami ng alternative kung papaano makakatulong tayo sa decongestion ng ospital,” Robredo explained. “Minsan magpapa-x-ray lang [sa ospital], ‘yung line napakatagal.”

The Vice President also encourages local government units (LGUs) and the private sector to recreate the project to help decongest hospitals and reduce possible COVID-19 transmissions around the country.

Besides E-Konsulta, the OVP has also launched the “Swab Cab” project, a free mobile antigen testing program for residents of Malabon. The office has also sent out COVID-19 care packages to help monitor the health status of patients who have used their online platform.
