Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas, a nationwide movement of sectoral groups urging Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso to run for the presidency, cried political harassment over the issuance of show cause order to Domagoso by DILG Undersecretary for External and Legislative Affairs Ricojudge Janvier Echiverri last week.
The show-cause order was later retracted by Echiverri, saying it was an “inadvertent re-issuance.”
IM Pilipinas Spokesperson Philip Piccio said that Echiverri must be axed in his position.
“Unless swift remedial administrative action is taken, the recent booboo inflicted by one ranking political appointee to a duly-elected and well-serving local chief executive is another disgrace in the highest order, to the leadership of this administration,” said Piccio.
Piccio said that Echiverri has 10 working days to explain why he should not resign or be terminated from his office for his negligence in ensuring elementary staff work is done before dishing out allegations to a government official, duly elected by the people. “He has to be made accountable for his lapses and excesses as an appointive public servant,” he added.
He added that if Echiverri stays in office, the aborted show cause order is merely a political attack against Moreno to disrupt the growing trend that the Manila Mayor is the man to beat once he accepts the challenge to run as President in the upcoming 2022 elections.
