Rizal 2nd District Representative Fidel Nograles appealed to all Filipinos to maintain health and safety protocols and avoid believing in fake news amid the current spike in COVID-19 cases.
Nograles added that spreading fake news against the vaccines has a greater impact on our public health situation since the Delta and Lambda variants are already here in the country.
“The problem with this buzz about the supposed dangers of the anti-COVID vaccine is that it confuses our people. We need to underscore that the benefits outweigh the side effects and all vaccines approved by the FDA provide protection against severe infection,” Nograles said.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), out of 9.1 million who have been fully vaccinated, only 116 or 0.001% were infected by COVID-19. Of this number, only 13 were hospitalized which shows that the vaccine is effective to combat COVID-19 complications.
Nograles urged all LGUs to distribute assistance, either in cash or in kind, to all their constituents while strictly following safety protocols like physical distancing, wearing facemasks, and frequently washing hands either with alcohol or soap and water.
