From 922 active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases on Aug. 6, the first day of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), the city of Manila’s tally has ballooned to 1,707 on Friday at the end of the two-week imposition of the most restrictive classification in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is among the 922 battling the disease.
He is still confined at the Sta. Ana Hospital as of Friday night.
Domagoso has lost his sense of smell and taste five days after he tested positive for Covid-19, according to Sta. Ana Hospital Director Dr. Grace Padilla.
His appetite remains good, he has minimal body pains, and his vital signs are stable, the medical bulletin stated.
Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan was discharged from the same hospital on Thursday. She tested positive on Aug. 8.
On Friday, Manila also reported 249 new Covid-19 cases and 289 new recoveries.
The city’s six district hospitals have a 61-percent occupancy rate while the Covid-19 Field Hospital at the Quirino Grandstand is 89-percent occupied.
NCR will downgrade to MECQ from Aug. 21 to 31. (PNA)
