At least six barangays in Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur were placed under granular lockdown starting Sunday due to a spike in the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.
Mayor Kirk Asis issued Saturday Executive Order (EO) No. 17 placing the whole of Barangay Maygatasan, four subcommunities in Poblacion, and one subcommunity each in Barangays Taglatawan, Salvacion, Cagbas, and Calaitan under granular lockdown.
The granular lockdown shall remain in force until further notice, and may be extended.
The EO ordered focused containment, community quarantine, and strict and mandatory quarantine in these areas.
“No person shall be allowed to go out of his or her house. All residents of these particular areas shall be subjected to quarantine protocols and testing procedures as directed by the City Inter-Agency Task Force (CIATF),” Asis said in the EO.
All activities in said barangays shall be suspended starting Sunday, except for businesses that cater to essential services.
Entry and exit points in these areas will be manned by the Philippine National Police and the members of CIATF.
As of Sept. 10, Bayugan City recorded 68 new Covid-19 cases as reported by the Department of Health 13 (Caraga).
Most of the new cases were concentrated in the six barangays subject to granular lockdown.
Total Covid-19 cases in the city reached 1,084 as of Sept. 9 with 754 recoveries, 296 remaining active cases, and 34 deaths. (PNA)
