Vice President and Presidential aspirant Leni Robredo formally announced her Senate slate for the 2022 elections, at a joint press conference with running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan on Friday, October 15.

Robredo named 11 Senatorial candidates under her slate. Among them are former Vice President, current Senators, returning Senators and a former Congressman hailing from different political parties.

The opposition leader announced Senators Sonny Trillanes under Magdalo Party-List, Risa Hontiveros from Akbayan Party, Chiel Diokno from Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino, Leila De Lima and Teddy Baguilat from Liberal Party as the first five senatorial candidates who agreed to join her cause.

Robredo added earlier today Alex Lacson from Partidong Kapatiran, Sen. Dick Gordon from Bagumbayan VNP Movement, former Sen. Chiz Escudero from Nationalist People’s Coalition, former Vice President Jojo Binay from United Nationalist Alliance, Sen. Joel Villanueva and Sen. Migz Zubiri who were also first to respond to their call for unity.

Meanwhile, she thanked Sen. Franklin Drilon and Arnel Cassanova who managed her senatorial slate. Robredo said it is their goal to “unify as many people as possible”. However, Robredo stated that the last Senatorial candidate who will complete the slate is still being decided.

Robredo is running as an independent candidate in the 2022 elections which she described as a “symbolic way of showing she is open to unite alliances with other parties in opposition to the current administration.
