Briones noted the DepEd is still in the process of completing the list of 20 private schools to implement the limited in-person classes.

The selected private schools will open classes on Nov. 22 – a week after the public schools start – since “they are still under evaluation”.

In the same public briefing, Education Undersecretary Malcolm Garma said 57 private schools are currently under evaluation.

He said the list of the private schools will be released on Nov. 12.

Briones said participating schools must comply with public health standards and must secure consent from their respective local government units and parents of their learners.

“Kami naman, for our part sa Department of Education, ini-inspect namin ang mga napipiling eskwelahan na kailangan handa ‘yung ating mga facilities, social distancing, may tubig, may gamot, malapit tayo sa mga health stations (For DepEd’s part, we inspect the selected schools, that their facilities must be ready, social distancing, water supply, medicines, and their proximity to health stations),” she said.

She added that the schools have also undergone the risk assessment conducted by the Department of Health, following the instruction of President Rodrigo Duterte to ensure that learners and teachers are safe from infection or transmission during classes. (PNA)
