Supporters of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte gathered at San Juanico Bridge for a grand “salubong” on Tuesday, November 30.

San Juanico Bridge is the longest bridge connecting the provinces of Leyte and Samar in which the “salubong,” or merging of the north and south, took place.

The event symbolized the unity of the regions of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao behind the Bongbong-Sara Uniteam, with the hope that the tandem’s unifying leadership would bring about national unity, peace, and progress.

Thousands of supporters wearing red and green shirts filled the bridge to demonstrate their support and unity.

According to Marcos, the coming together of BBM-Sara UniTeam supporters  indicates the continuation and strengthening of President Rodrigo Duterte’s legacy plans.

“Napakaganda ng pangyayari na ito dahil ang pagsasama ng isang Marcos at Duterte ay isang magandang simbolo ng pagkakaisa ng bansa. Ako from North at si Inday Sara from the South at nagkita dito sa Eastern Samar,” Marcos said.

The 2,200-meter San Juanico Bridge is part of former President Ferdinand Marcos’ Pan-Philippine Highway project and was dedicated to his wife Imelda Marcos.
