Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), had joined forces to seek legal action in the Department of Justice – Office of Cybercrime (DOJ-OCC) against the serious online threat to the leading presidential bet Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr.

The online treat had been posted on the social media platform Tiktok, and garnered 249 reactions, 100 comments, and 499 shares. The content stated “Nagmemeting kami araw araw para paghandaang ipa-assasinate namin si BBM humanda kayo.”

DOJ-COC officer-in-charge Charito Zamora stressed that an issue of disclosure warrant is required before Tiktok Philippines disclosed any personal information. DOJ-OCC official divulged the investigation going on, however, he could not speak to any details unless the investigation is finished.

PNP-ACG director Brig. Gen. Robert Rodriguez identified the Tiktok account as @ljluna7, who made a comment to another Tiktok account about holding a meeting in planning to Kill Bongbong. Tiktok user @ljluna7 has already been banned by the Tiktok Philippines.

Rodriguez said, “We have to bear in mind that the TikTok app is something that people don’t take seriously, noting that TikTok is usually used by people to relieve stress through dancing, lip-synching, acting, and dubbing.” However, he reiterated that they have to investigate thoroughly before doing the necessary actions.

Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra assured OCC that DOJ reckoned with the alleged assignation plot against Marcos added that he received an online tip regarding this matter. Gueverra also pointed out the threat as a bomb scare which requires a legal step whether it is a joke or not.
