Partido Reporma and senatorial aspirant Dr. Minguita Padilla applauded the government’s response to push for a COVID-19 endemic approach as the country recently increased vaccination rates.
According to Padilla, the endemic approach must be examined carefully as some Filipinos have not yet been fully vaccinated in areas where there’s a lack of logistical measures in delivering the vaccines.
Padilla added that the Filipinos cannot stay with their homes forever and it’s unfair for the kids to not experience face-to-face classes during the crisis.
“We cannot live in this fear of pandemic mode forever and let our industries languish. We cannot live without face-to-face classes, it’s not fair to the kids,” Padilla stated.
Citing international studies, Padilla emphasized that COVID-19 especially the omicron variant, despite its high transmissibility, is not that lethal and people can get to live their own lives if they’re being cautious and maintain health protocols.
She also added that it needs to be imposed depending on the location and the percentage of those who are vaccinated.
“We still have to decide depending on the vaccination rate. But I still believe for campaign areas, for example, maraming tao (where people gather), only the fully vaccinated should be allowed to enter the campaign venue just to be safe, and they should still wear their masks, at least until we’re totally out of the pandemic,” the senatorial aspirant said.
According to Padilla, she reiterated that people who are spreading fake news about the vaccine should stop their atrocities and refrain from giving misinformation.
Dr. Padilla is running under the Lacson-Sotto Tandem and has the same agenda that health policies should be based on scientific facts and evidence with accurate data.
