Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri and House Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez led a group of lawmakers in a meeting with incoming President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to discuss legislative agenda for the 19th Congress at Marcos’ headquarters in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday.
During the courtesy call, Zubiri, who is vying to be the incoming Senate president, led the Senate contingent in discussing the Marcos administration’s legislative plans.
Meanwhile, Romualdez, who is a top candidate for House Speaker, presented programs on behalf of the lower chamber.
Zubiri said in an interview on Monday, “In my discussion with our incoming president, President-elect Bongbong Marcos, he wants to shape up the legislative agenda immediately”.
“He instructed me and incoming Speaker Romualdez to sit down and discuss possible legislative agenda for the Sona [state of the nation address],” he added.
The legislators’ visit camea day after Marcos had received ambassadors from Singapore, United Kingdom, France, and the European Union.
Zubiri was joined by Senators Nancy Binay, Ronald dela Rosa, JV Ejercito, Jinggoy Estrada, Lito Lapid, Loren Legarda, Ralph Recto, Ramon “Bong” Revilla, and Raffy Tulfo.
Romualdez was accompanied by Iloilo Rep. Janet Garin and Isabela Rep. Tonypet Albano.
