Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte is attending the 10-day International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in Washington, DC from July 11 to 21.
“It is an honor to be selected as one of the delegates to this prestigious exchange program. I consider this as recognition of the outstanding work that the city government has done to advance the welfare of our city and our QCitizens,” Belmonte said.
Belmonte was joined by city leaders from Germany, Indonesia, Kosovo, Mozambique, Poland, and Slovakia who were selected by US embassies around the world.
“The learnings that we will gain from this event would certainly be put to good use. We will fully utilize them for the betterment of our city and of our constituents,” Belmonte said in a statement.
According to the US State Department’s website, the IVLP is a premier professional exchange program.
The program enables delegates to share their ideas with peers, organizations, and technical specialists in US cities, and raise the public profile of democratic innovation at home and abroad.
The Program aims to engage the participants on the pillars of the Summit’s 2022 Year of Action.
