Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chair Cheloy Garafil said that she is looking to improve the EDSA Carousel bus experience.

The newly-appointed chair said that she had experienced the EDSA Carousel firsthand on July 12.

Garafil said there are “many areas for improvement” based on her personal inspection, including the long distance between stations in areas such as Cubao and Ortigas Center, and the need to manage the surge of passengers during rush hours.

Garafil also pointed out the lack of facilities for persons with disabilities, and a passenger terminal in Monumento, and “convenient access to the stations.”

Garafil shared that the LTFRB is preparing a rationalization plan, especially as face-to-face classes will soon resume.

She said that Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista is set to meet with Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government, and Metropolitan Manila Devlopment Authtority, and Philippine National Police regarding the resumption of classes.

The EDSA Carousel project was first implemented in 2020, as a way to improve the bus system on EDSA.

The busway will continue to provide free services until December 31, 2022.
