As Tropical Storm Florita smashes the northern portion of the country, La Union Governor Rafy Ortega-David has reassured her constituents that the provincial government is constantly watching and being ready for any incidents that may occur.
According to Ortega-David’s Facebook post, she convened an urgent meeting to evaluate the situation in La Union in light of the weather disturbance’s expected intensity and effects.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has placed the province under Tropical Storm Wind Signal No. 1, and the mayors, she said, have already suspended classes.
The governor added that the provincial government is still keeping an eye on Florita’s forecast movement and prepared for another typhoon that is expected to make landfall in the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday.
The provincial government, according to Ortega-David, is still vigilant, and she has already activated the Provincial Incident Management Team to keep an eye on the situation and take the appropriate steps.
“Sa ngayon po ay stay safe and healthy po tayo Kaprobinsaan, and don’t forget to tune in the Provincial Government of La Union and Dost_pagasa page for updates,” she added.
