“Performance is the best politics.” President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. stated in an interview with TV host and actress Toni Gonzaga in an episode of Toni Talks posted in her YouTube channel and aired on All TV this Tuesday.
“Pag maganda ang nagawa mo, kahit anong sabihin nila, nagawa mo eh,” Marcos added.
In the interview, the President pointed out how “partisan interest” became a primary focus and that the national interest was put to the side.
“We lost sight, in many ways of the national interest. And we only talked about partisan interest. Pinaglalaban lang natin ‘yung sa partido ko,’ ‘yung sa kandidato ko,’ ‘yung sa gusto ko.”
“Hindi natin iniisip ‘yung ano ‘yung para sa Pilipinas.”
He then raised the need in improving the general welfare and enhancement of the country’s image, adding that critics will always be present in any administration.
The chief executive mentioned that his previous State of the Nation Address is a report to the people about how the country is doing.
He highlighted that the economy is an important priority right now, in need of a reboot after the pandemic.
“Those potential investors that we are trying to bring into the Philippines, the financial analysts. And the most important priority of people right now, even of the government right now, is the economy,”
Marcos also added that Filipinos excel in the entertainment business and performing arts noting that Pinoy performers are widely present in amusement hubs in Asia such as hotels and bars.
He mentioned that the administration is dedicated to delivering the “Filipino brand” to the global stage and boosting its popularity.
“Part of that brand is our culture. And it’s not something that’s going to be hard. The Filipino brand is attractive. The Filipino brand is singular, is unique.” PBBM emphasized.
When asked about his view on the “Filipino brand,” he mentioned that it can be simply described as “grace.”
