President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday said his political party, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), will form an alliance with “like-minded” political forces.

During the mass oath-taking of new PFP members at Malacañan Palace in Manila, Marcos said the national party would woo other political parties to be its allies to attain his administration’s agenda for prosperity.

“Now, certainly, PFP is a political party. And therefore, that is why we are preparing for all the political cycles that are coming very soon,” Marcos said.

“So, we are trying to align [with] like-minded political forces. And to that end, I think it is opportune time to be able to say that after this, we are going to continue to talk to other political parties and come to an agreement with them para nga patibayin natin nang husto ‘yung ating grupo (so we can strengthen our group),” he added.

Marcos said the PFP’s priority in the past year is focused more on governance than politics.

He said the PFP is now turning into a “bigger” political party whose advocacy is to improve the government bureaucracy and the power situation in the Philippines to make the political system “as stable as possible.”

“Dahil bago tayong pasok, marami tayong kailangang gawin, marami tayong kailangang palitan, marami tayong kailangang pag-isipan (Since we are a newcomer, we have a lot to do, a lot to change, a lot to think about). So, that is what we have really been trying to do,” he said.

“We are attempting to transform the government, to transform the bureaucracy, to transform even the thinking of ordinary Filipino citizens and our politicians,” Marcos added.

Unity is the solution to the problems currently besetting the country, Marcos said.

The President said Filipinos would only feel the real change if all politicians would stand united.

“We are practical politicians after all. Kailangan natin tingnan kung ano ‘yung political situation para naman mayroon tayong sagot sa mga problema na haharapin natin (We need to see what the political situation is so that we have an answer to the problems we will face),” he said.

Marcos’ son, Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, was among the new members of the PFP who took oath before the president.

The PFP was formally accredited by the Commission on Elections in October 2018. (PNA)
