‘Wrong Venue’! Ilang Senador, Umani Ng Batikos Sa FIBA World Basketball Cup

Agaw-eksena sa nakaraang FIBA Basketball World Cup sina Senate President Migz Zubiri, Senador Bato Dela Rosa, Bong Go, at Joel Villanueva dahil sa kanilang suot na “West PH Sea” jerseys noong Gilas Pilipinas vs. China match noong Sabado, September 2. 

Ayon sa mga senador, ito ay show of support di lamang sa Gilas Pilipinas, pati na rin sa kanilang mga kababayang Pinoy. 

Marami namang netizens ang umalma dito dahil ito ay nagmumukhang “unprofessional” at pakitang-tao lamang. 

“My mother tells me all the time, ‘anak ang bisita ginagalang, kung bastos sila, you don’t have to be like them. Usher them out without humiliating yourself,” sambit ng isang netizen sa Facebook. 

Dagdag pa niya dito ay dapat magpakita sila ng professionalism at diplomacy lalo na’t Pilipinas ang host country ng FIBA World Basketball Cup. Pinaalala rin ng netizens na suportado ng mga senador ang pro-China stance ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte. 

Nagparinig naman ang artistang si Jake Ejercito sa isang tweet. “But lol at those wearing “West Philippine Sea” shirts but were as still as the grave between 2016-2022.”

Depensa naman ni Sen. Francis Tolentino, wala umanong mali sa ginawa ng kanyang mga kapwa senador.

 “All of us have the right to freedom of expression. One of way of showing their unity. Hindi ito first time nakita…Walang masama doon sa pagpapakita ng kanilang beliefs na atin ang West Philippine Sea, even in FIBA,” aniya. 

Nanalo ang Gilas Pilipinas laban sa China sa score na 96 – 75.
