An Australian firm is set to upgrade the water system of Camiguin Island province, making it the first “cloud-based water system” in the Philippines.
Camiguin Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo said the Tracwater Company led by its chief executive officer, Len McKelvey, paid a courtesy visit to the provincial capitol and met with the Camiguin Water Company (CWC) officials.
Compared to regular water monitoring which involves experts taking regular samples followed by laboratory assessments, cloud-based monitoring automates the process through robotic solutions to obtain real-time water quality measurements.
“Next year, Tracwater will install the first-ever in the Philippines real-time cloud-based water quality monitoring system in the CWC-CIWASCO (Camiguin Integrated Water System Cooperative) water systems,” Romualdo said in a Facebook post on Thursday,
He said the partnership will further ensure the potability and safeness of the water service.
Tracwater, according to its LinkedIn account, has been operating its own “robotic water data system” since 2009.
In May this year, CWC appointed Jonathan Sarsonas as its new general manager, with a mandate to supervise the company’s operations and ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and equitable water supply services.
The CWC has been providing water supply services to the people of Camiguin since November 2022.
Last year, the existing partnership between CWC and CIWASCO amounted to over PHP61 million worth of investment. (PNA)
