Pinalagan ni Davao City Representative Paolo Duterte ang imbestigasyon ng Kamara sa umano’y extrajudicial killings (EJK) at human rights abuse na aniya ay naka-focus lamang sa balwarte nilang mga Duterte na probinsya ng Davao.

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi niya na upang malaman kung sino ang dapat managot sa mga kasong ito, dapat ay palawakin ng buong Kamara ang imbestigasyon sa buong bansa.

Hinimok ni Duterte ang Kamara na tingnan mabuti ang progreso pagdating sa mga insidente na kaugnay sa EJKs sa loob ng 25 years hanggang sa kasalukuyan dahil ayon sa datos ng Philippine National Police (PNP) at ng iba pang ahensya, mataas ang kaso ng human rights abuse at EJKs sa Manila, Cebu, at Quezon City.

Dagdag pa niya, ayon sa ibang datos ay nananatiling problema pa rin ang drug-related cases sa bansa sa kalagitnaan ng 2023 hanggang sa kasalukuyang administrasyon.

“To evaluate the existing laws, rules and regulations that uphold and promote the constitutional guarantee against any form of human rights violation, it is just but proper for the House of Representatives to direct the appropriate House committees to conduct an investigation, in aid of legislation, to uncover the real situation of EJKs and other human rights abuses in the country for a period of at least 25 years up to the present.”

Isa sa idinidiin na responsable sa mga kaso ng EJK at human rights abuse sa bansa ay ang ama ni Rep. Duterte na si dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at former PNP chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. Ang dalawa ang mga pangunahing nagpatupad ng “Oplan Tokhang” para maging epektibo ang “war on drugs” ng rehimeng Duterte.

Ayon sa grupong Human Rights Watch, may naitalang pagkamatay ng 12,000 na mga Pilipino, na karamihan ay mga mahihirap, simula nang ipatupad ni dating pangulong Duterte ang war on drugs noong June 30, 2016.
