Suporta sa mga guro ang pinakaunang ibinilin ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos sa bagong talagang Education secretary na si Senador Sonny Angara.

Binigyang-diin niya ang kahalagahan ng pagsuporta sa mga guro, lalo na sa kanilang kakayahang tustusan ang kanilang pamilya.

“So, I said, we have to take care of the teachers. We have to, of course, financial[ly] to make sure that they can feed their families. Kasi we tend to forget sometimes that teachers have families.”

Nang tanungin ng media tungkol sa mga potensyal na pagbabago ng mga patakaran sa Department of Education (DepEd) dahil sa appointment ni Angara, ipinahiwatig ni Marcos na posible ito. “Maybe a little bit,” sagot niya.

“We see them just as teachers. They have families and they have to take care of their families. And they cannot teach properly kung inaalala nila ‘yung lagay ng pamilya nila so we have to make sure that they are in a good place so that the teachers can concentrate on actual teaching,” dagdag ng pangulo.

Bilang karagdagan sa suportang pinansyal, binanggit din niya ang pangangailangan para sa muling pagsasanay sa mga guro upang makasabay sa mga teknolohiya. “Kailangan turuan natin ulit. So, that’s what we will do. We will beef up that part of it.” 

Higit pa rito, plano ng pamahalaan na pahusayin ang mga feeding program sa mga paaralan upang matugunan ang problema sa pagkabansot ng mga bata, isiniwalat ni Marcos.

Ang anunsyo ay kasunod ng 17th Cabinet Meeting sa Palasyo ng Malacañan noong Martes, kung saan kinumpirma ni Marcos na tinanggap ni Angara ang posisyon ng DepEd secretary. Si Angara ang papalit kay Vice President Sara Duterte, na magbibitiw sa kanyang puwesto sa Hulyo 19.
