Maaaring sa kalaboso ang hahantungan ng pitong opisyal ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) kung patuloy nilang hindi sisiputin ang hearing House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.

Babala ni Manila 3rd District Representative Joel Chua, handa silang maglabas ng warrant of arrest para sa pito kung patuloy na tatanggihan ng mga ito ang lawful requests ang House of Representatives.

“These absences reflect a blatant disregard for the authority of Congress and are unacceptable,” aniya.

Ayon sa Bureau of Immigration, nagtungo sa Los Angeles, California si Zuleika Lopez, chief of staff ni Vice President Sara Duterte, noong Nobyember 4—isang araw bago siya dapat humarap sa House panel na nag-iimbestiga sa P612.5 milyong confidential funds ng OVP at Department of Education (DepEd) sa ilalim ni Duterte bilang kalihim.

Kasama rin sa mga inisyuhan ng subpoena sina Lemuel Ortonio, Rosalynne Sanchez, Gina Acosta, Julieta Villadelrey, at mag-asawang Sunshine Charry at Edward Fajarda. Sa ngayon, sina Sanchez at Villadelrey lang ang kumpirmadong dadalo sa hearing, ayon kay Chua. 

Kung di pa rin magpakita ang iba, malamang na maglalabas ng mga contempt order ang komite na pwedeng mauwi sa aresto. Dagdag pa ni Chua, sapat na ang chance na binigay sa kanila para makipagtulungan.

“If they fail to appear this time, they leave us no choice but to impose heavier penalties, including contempt and potential arrest and detention,” aniya. 

Iniimbestigahan ng House committee ang diumano’y P500 milyon confidential fund ng OVP at ang P125 milyon confidential fund ng DepEd noong panunungkulan ni Duterte. Ayon sa Commission on Audit, halos kalahati ng pondo ang kuwestyonable at P73 milyon ang hindi maipaliwanag na ginastos ng OVP sa loob lang ng 11 araw noong huling quarter ng 2022.
