Pasok na sa Senado ang ikaapat na impeachment complaint laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte matapos makuha ng Kamara ang sapat na pirma para ituloy ang kaso, kinumpirma ni House Secretary General Reginald Velasco nitong Miyerkules.

Ayon kay Velasco, pumirma na ang hindi bababa sa 153 mambabatas, lampas sa kinakailangang 102 lagda o isang-katlo ng miyembro ng Kamara, para maisalang ang kaso sa paglilitis ng Senado.

Ito ay pormal nang isusumite sa plenaryo, ani Velasco.

Pwersa Ng Oposisyon, Lumalakas

Ang impeachment complaint ay nag-ugat sa matinding batikos mula sa oposisyon laban sa Bise Presidente, na anak ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Ayon kay Akbayan party-list Representative Perci Cendaña, na nag-endoso ng unang impeachment complaint, ito ay hakbang patungo sa tuluyang pagbagsak ng kapangyarihan ng pamilya Duterte.

“Sara Duterte’s expiration date from power is near. This impeachment is the people’s verdict against the Dutertes’ long-standing corruption and lack of accountability. The message is clear: the era of impunity is ending, and those who plunder and oppress will be held to account,” pahayag ni Cendaña.

Dagdag pa niya, ang laban para sa pananagutan ay tuloy sa Senado.

“The Senate must now rise to the occasion and match the courage demonstrated by the citizens and the House. The Filipino people are watching, and history will judge whether our senators will uphold their constitutional duty or allow political expediency to stand in the way of justice,” ani Cendaña.

Chel Diokno: “Ang Senado, Huwag Manginig’

Samantala, pinuri rin ng Akbayan First Nominee at batikang abogado na si Chel Diokno ang impeachment laban kay Duterte at tinawag itong “testament to the power of active citizenship.”

“The Senate must not falter,” diin ni Diokno.”Will they stand with the people or enable unaccountability? The country deserves a Senate that won’t cower.”
