A proposed cable car system tailored to Rizal’s mountainous terrain is being backed by Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas (ABP) senatorial aspirant and former Interior secretary Benhur Abalos as a practical solution to the province’s worsening transportation woes.
“Kung hindi ako nagkakamali, there’s this project by DOTr (Department of Transportation) na magkakaroon ng cable car kasi maganda ito because bundok ito, zigzag, so I think it’s very practical na gagawin ito (If I’m not mistaken, DOTr has this cable car project, whIch is good because this area is a mountain, zigzag, so I think it’s very practical to do this),” Abalos said in a press conference during a sortie in Antipolo City Friday.
Abalos said this transportation mode has been proven to be “very effective in other countries.”
He said the project is one of several infrastructure and mass transport initiatives that could help alleviate daily commuter struggles in Rizal.
He, however, pointed out that its success hinges on proper interconnectivity with other forms of transportation.
He emphasized that improving physical connectivity through bridges and infrastructure remains critical in supporting mobility and regional development. (PNA)
