Forging an alliance with the administration party is important to ensure that programs and projects are timely and efficiently delivered, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said on Friday.

He said that while alliance does not matter in local politics, it is still necessary because of the numerous programs and projects the administration can provide.

The mayor added that he was informed the extension of the Iloilo River Esplanade up to the front of the Freedom Grandstand in the Muelle Loney area has funds available, which he requested from House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.

“Due to alliances, many Ilonggos are benefiting from aid programs of the government, including the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS),” Treñas said in an interview.

Treñas, also vice president on special projects of the National Unity Party, said his daughter, Raisa Chu, will soon take her oath with the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) chaired by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., chairperson of the PFP at the regional level, said they are not hurrying the oathtaking because eventually, it will happen.

“The party is now busy with our alliances because that’s what the President wants,” Defensor said. (PNA)
