Presumptive president Bongbong Marcos Jr. lauded the hard work of the teachers, poll workers and volunteers on making sure of a peaceful, honest, orderly and credible conduct of the historic May 9 elections.

According to Marcos Jr, the heroism and sacrifice showcased by the teachers, poll watchers, and volunteers proved that they are willing to make this election more smoothly and successful.

Marcos said in a news release on Monday.

The presumptive president also expressed his gratitude to the entire Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and other forces for executing their duties and responsibilities to maintain peace and order on the entire election period.

You (soldiers and police officers) have shown remarkable professionalism and dedication in performing your sworn duties. Your courage and heroism have helped the entire nation in hurdling the many challenges brought by the past elections.” He said.

Marcos Jr expressed that he’s in favor of providing a Php3,000.00 extra allowance to all teachers and volunteers who served as the electoral board during the election.

Department of Education (DepEd) Leonor Briones already submitted a letter, encouraging the Commission on Election (COMELEC) to give an additional Php3,000.00 to all those who volunteer to become part of the electoral board.

Marcos Jr was hopeful that the compensations, honoraria, and other allowances will be given to teachers before May 24 as stated in COMELEC Resolution No. 10727.

Last election, 647,812 DepEd personnel volunteered, 319,000 teachers as part of the electoral board, and 200,000 DepEd personnel positioned as the supervisory election officials.
