Ex-Senator Bongbong Marcos took his oath and officially joined the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) on its third anniversary today, October 5, 2020.
PFP Executive Vice President Vic Rodriguez said that Marcos is now officially the chairman of the Partido Liberal ng Pilipinas, after being nominated as the party’s standard-bearer last month when the party decided to reserve the post for BBM.
The PFP was founded exactly three years ago by the Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones, a known ally of the Duterte administration.
Marcos was also previously named by Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) as their presidential bet in the 2022 national elections. KBL is a political party founded by Bongbong’s father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
Marcos is also a known member of the Nacionalista party, the same party he was with when he was elected as senator in 2010. Marcos attempted to bid for vice-presidency in the 2016 national elections but lost against the incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo.
Despite many political parties associated with Marcos, there is still no clear sign if he will seek candidacy for next year’s election.
