President Marcos relayed this to former United Nations (UN) secretary general Ban Ki-Moon, now the president of the assembly and chair of the Council of GGGI, during the latter’s courtesy call in Malacañang in Manila.
“Politics should not be in the service of one party, should not be in the service of one person, certainly. Namumulitika tayo dahil mayroon tayong gustong gawin (We enter politics because we want to do something),” Marcos said.
The President made the statement after six soldiers were killed in clashes with the Islamic State-linked Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG) group in a remote village in Munai, Lanao del Norte on Feb. 18.
Marcos said he is optimistic that the fourth edition of the Philippine International Dive Expo (PHIDEX) at the World Trade Center in Pasay City would facilitate new partnerships for the development of the country’s dive industry.
This was after the IRRI, in a meeting with Marcos at Malacañan Palace in Manila, offered to develop more varieties of rice and other agricultural produce for local consumption.
Marcos made the remark during the courtesy call of the members of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Honolulu and Honolulu City Council Trade mission at the Malacañan Palace on Thursday.
The two leaders made the commitment during a phone call in which Marcos congratulated the Indonesian defense minister for his apparent victory in Indonesia’s presidential elections.
During the 16th Ani ng Dangal Awards at the Metropolitan Theater in the City of Manila, Marcos vowed that his administration will take the lead in honing the artists’ crafts.
Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva was referring to Republic Act (RA) 11980 or the Revised Bulacan State University (BulSU) Charter; RA 11978 or the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU)-South La Union Campus-College of Medicine; RA 11977 or the Establishment of the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) - Floridablanca Campus; and RA 11979 that converts the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Parañaque City into a regular campus.
