The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Mountain Province advised Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) candidates to carefully fill out forms early to avoid invalidation.

Provincial Election Supervisor John Paul Martin said that under Comelec Resolution No. 11196, incomplete certificates of candidacy (COCs) will not be accepted. The filing period for the Nov. 2 barangay (village) and SK elections will be on Sept. 28 to Oct. 5.

“We are making the filing process easier for you. Avoid the rush and the hassle by downloading and preparing your forms early. Under the new rules, incomplete COCs will not be accepted, so every document counts,” Martin said in a statement.

Required documents include birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority or local civil registry as proof that the applicant is aged between 18 and 24 on election day, or born between Nov. 2, 2002 and Nov. 2, 2008); PHP30 documentary stamp tax attached to the original copy; and passport-size photo taken within the last six months.

“Remember, once you filed your COC, you are officially considered a candidate. All election laws and prohibitions apply to you immediately,” Martin said.

The campaign period is from Oct. 22 to Oct. 31.
