The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is urging voters to beat the May 18 deadline of registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

San Jose de Buenavista Election Officer lawyer Johnna Catilo said in an interview on Monday that their satellite registration at Robinsons Place Antique has entered its final stretch after opening on May 5 and will run until May 18.

“We are urging those who would like to apply for their voter registration, transfer, correction of entries, or avail themselves of the Register Anywhere Program (RAP) to visit us at Robinsons Place until May 18,” she said.

While they are on a work-from-home arrangement every Monday, the satellite registration is open on May 18.

Meanwhile, Tronco said they served 48 persons deprived of liberty at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in San Jose de Buenavista during their May 8 registration. Two applied for reactivation, and others were new voters or had transferred their registration.

Tronco said that during the first quarter of this year, they received 1,567 applications for new registration, reactivation, and RAP.

The applications were approved during the Election Regulatory Board hearing on April 21-22.

“San Jose de Buenavista now has 39,452 registered voters,” Tronco said.
Applicants were advised to bring their pertinent documents, such as a government-issued identification card with their address or bill of phone, or a lease contract with address for new applicants or transferees, and an original and photocopy of the marriage contract for correction of entries.

An affidavit is also available at the Comelec office for those who have no documents to show. (PNA)
