The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has pushed Filipinos to adapt to a new way of travelling in a ‘new normal’.
Today, the number of people travelling each day has been increasing. They move around either through public transports, private vehicles, bicycles or motorcycles. However, the question remains: how can you guarantee a safe and healthy journey during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Commuting 101
Never forget your face mask and face shields. All public transport vehicles require commuters to shield themselves and others from the infectious virus. When outside, practice proper hygiene. Always sanitize your hands and belongings before and after you arrive at your destination.
Safety measures are in place wherever you go. Security guards in any building entrance are equipped with thermal checks and disinfecting foot mats. Anyone with a temperature above 37.6 degrees Celsius are not allowed inside the premises and are advised to seek medical assistance immediately.
Public transport has evolved as a better and efficient means of commuting since the onset of this pandemic. The reduced passenger capacity in public transportation has ended the era of cramped and crowded jeepneys and buses.
Although the risk of COVID-19 infection can be reduced by taking a private vehicle, it is still best never to let our guards down during the pandemic. The same health protocols should still be observed at all times.
