Agriculture Secretary William Dar has released an updated suggested retail prices (SRP) for market staples following the price hike brought about by the series of typhoons that devastated the country.
Signed on November 20, Dar shared in a Facebook post the Administrative Circular (AC) No. 16, Series of 2020 that includes basic commodities such as beef, lowland vegetables, and highland vegetables.
With the newly implemented SRPs, Metro Manila marketgoers are guaranteed that they can purchase basic necessities at a reasonable price.
The consecutive typhoons that entered the country has taken a toll on the agriculture sector.
As of November 22, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has recorded P8.69 billion worth of agriculture and infrastructure damages.
Typhoon Quinta (October 25), Super Typhoon Rolly (November 1), Typhoon Siony (November 7), and Typhoon Ulysses (November 11) consecutively struck the country over the past few weeks. Affected families have yet to recover from the aftermaths of the typhoons.
