Interior Secretary Eduardo Año is supportive of the call for all Metro Manila mayors to draft policies penalizing persons getting coronavirus booster shots.
Año said on Sunday he had ordered the police to probe such incidents following a report that two persons received a third shot of the Covid-19 vaccine in Quezon City.
“I support the idea of (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) Chairman Benhur Abalos. We need to inoculate as much as we can,” he said in a Viber message.
Such illegal act denies others, who have yet to receive their shots, the chance to get immunized, Año said.
“Those selfish individuals wanting booster shots would deny the opportunities for others to be fully vaccinated,” he said.
Just last week, two fully vaccinated persons were charged for violating an ordinance on Covid-19 vaccination fraud after getting booster shots using government-provided vaccines.
Health authorities have yet to allow booster shots as vaccine supply remains limited and only about 10 percent of the population have been fully vaccinated. (PNA)
