The Department of Health (DOH) reported four additional fireworks-related injuries, bringing the total tally to 12 as of 6 a.m. Sunday.
The DOH said the new cases included a 23-year-old male and a 49-year-old female who used “kwitis,” a legal and regulated firework, at home.
The other two were boys aged 11 and 17, who used the banned firecracker piccolo and boga, an improvised cannon.
“Fireworks do give dazzling displays and loud sounds. These are better seen and heard not at home, but from a safe distance and in the company of healthy family and friends,” the DOH said.
“Community fireworks displays can provide longer lasting, professional, and safer shows. People highly appreciate leaders who organize these,” it added. (PNA)
