Outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte expressed support for his daughter, Vice Presidential Aspirant Mayor “Inday” Sara, but reiterated that he will not endorse any presidential bet in the coming May 9 elections during a speech in Mataas na kahoy, Batangas.

According to Duterte, “I am not supporting any candidate except, of course, my daughter. Ako, boboto talaga ako sa anak ko.”

Duterte had been vocal that only his daughter can continue his legacy describing that Inday Sara is competent, very good, and hardworking.

President Duterte told in the campaign that his daughter is good enough for the vice presidency citing her qualities and leadership style.

Duterte said, “Inday Sara is really very strict. You can’t crowd around waiting for her, you will be called one by one instead. But she will talk to you. And that’s good, that’s actually good. She can serve people in an orderly manner.”

Last November 2021, President Duterte refused to join forces his allied party, PDP-Laban, Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan and Lakas (PDDS), and Lakas-CMD towards Ferdinand “Bongbong: Marcos Jr. because he belived that Marcos Jr. is a week leader.

Meanwhile, Duterte was dismayed at Sara’s decision to run as the running mate of Marcos, noting that Marcos probably decided for her. However, last month, the PDP-Laban, the president’s party, led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, publicly endorsed Marcos’ candidacy.

Senator Bong Go, the president’s closest friend, told that before the endorsement of the party, Duterte and Marcos had a cordial and productive meeting.

Despite the meeting and the PDP Laban’s endorsement of Marcos, the president still remains neutral about whom he will endorse in the election.
