President Rodrigo Duterte reiterated that his day begins at 2 p.m. because he is a night person.
In his weekly address on Monday night, Duterte noted that despite his unusual schedule for a president, he has been doing his job.
“I told you frankly, my day starts at two o’clock in the afternoon. Pero hanggang gabi na ako, papunta ng gabi. Walang limit na ‘yan… But for the reason na ganon nga body clock ko, and I have a job to do and I have to do it right. And what do you do? What do you mean?”
He then dared the critics to switch positions with him to see if their wouldn’t melt.
“Tapos sabihin niyo hindi nagtatrabaho. Palit tayo. Matutunaw yung utak niyo,” he added.
Duterte continued that he has been clear about his sleeping pattern ever since he took oath as the President.
“Noong matapos ako mag-oath, ininterview ako ng media. Yung media, ilabas ninyo ang tape, lahat. ‘What is your work ethics?’ Well, I am a night person,” he said.
On the same day, Duterte joined the commemoration of Andres Bonifacio’s 157th birthday, where he urged Filipinos to channel the courage and patriotism of the late hero to surpass the struggles thrown at them.
“His love of country—which aroused our ancestors to fight for our freedom and secure our rightful place in the community of nations—is very vital now, more than ever, as we overcome the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic.”
