Employment Rate Balik ‘Pre-Pandemic Levels’ Sa Ilalim Ng PBBM Admin – OPS

Dumami pa ang mga Pilipinong may trabaho noong Oktubre sa ilalim ng administrasyong Marcos na pumalo na sa 47.11 milyon mula sa 43.82 milyon ng Oktubre 2021, ayon sa pahayag ng Office of the Press Secretary (OPS).

Balik “pre-pandemic levels” ang naitalang employment rate ng labor sector, sabi ng OPS. Nahigitan ng pinakabagong employment figure ang naitala noong Enero 2020 kung saan pumalo ang employment rate sa 94.7 percent. 

Ayon sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) October 2022 Labor Force Survey, nasa 95.5 percent ang employment rate ng bansa. Mas mataas ito sa naitalang 95.0 percent noong nakaraang buwan.

Bumaba rin ang bilang ng mga Pilipino na walang trabaho sa 2.24 milyon kung saan nabawasan ng 1.26 milyon mula sa naiulat na 3.50 milyong walang trabaho noong Oktubre 2021.

Nasa 4.5 percent na lamang ang unemployment rate ng bansa, mas mababa sa 7.4 percent unemployment rate noong Oktubre 2021 at 5 percent noong Setyembre.

“Second lowest unemployment rate itong October 2022. Ito ay second from October 2019 na 4.5 percent din… Ang October 2019 and October 2022 na 4.5% unemployment [rate] ay siyang lowest since 2005,” ayon kay National Statistician Undersecretary Dennis Claire Mapa sa isang press conference ngayong Miyerkules. 

Naiulat din ang pagbaba ng bilang ng mga underemployed sa bansa. Nasa 6.67 milyon na Pilipino ang underemployed o katumbas ng 14.2 percent. Mas mababa ito sa 16.1 percent noong Oktubre 2021 at 15.4 percent noong Setyembre 2022.

Tinukoy ng PSA ang mga underemployed bilang mga “employed persons who expressed the desire to have additional hours of work in their present job or to have an additional job, or to have a new job with longer hours of work.”
