Nag-alok ng tulong ang gobyerno ng France sa pagbuo ng nuclear power program dito sa Pilipinas matapos i-anunsyo ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos sa kanyang State of the Nation Address (SONA) na naghahanap ang bansa ng mas ligtas at mas sustainable na mapagkukunan ng enerhiya.

“We will comply with the International Atomic Energy Agency regulations for nuclear power plants as they have been strengthened after Fukushima. In the area of nuclear power, new technologies have been developed that allow smaller-scale modular nuclear plants and other derivations thereof,” sabi ni Marcos noong Lunes.

Ayon kay French Ambassador, Michele Boccoz, nagsimula na umano ang usapan ng French embassy at ilang mga miyembro ng gabinete ukol sa pakikipagtulungan ng Paris at Manila sa pagtataguyod ng nuclear power sa bansa.

“There’s obviously an interest. As I said, we have experience and expertise in many different sectors of renewable energy, including the nuclear sector,” sabi ni Boccoz noong Martes.

Bukod dito, nagsimula na rin ang diskusyon ng dalawang bansa sa pagtataguyod ng iba pang renewable energy sources tulad ng hydrogen power.
