GENERAL OVERLOAD? PNP Top Brass, Tapyasan – Remulla

Plano ni Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla na bawasan ang bilang ng mga heneral ng Philippine National Police (PNP) mula sa 133, patungo sa 25 na lamang bilang bahagi ng reporma sa organisasyon. 

Sa unang sectoral meeting niya sa Malacañang bilang Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary, inirekomenda ito ni Remulla kay Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, na ayon sa kanya ay “very accepting” na mga suhestiyon.

Sinabi pa ng DILG chief na masyadong “top-heavy” ang PNP ngayon, na nangangailangan ng “flattening” upang alisin ang mga hindi kailangang posisyon. Binanggit din niya na maraming heneral ang walang actual commands, partikular na sa mga Area Police Command (APC) na walang mga tauhan.

Nang tanungin kung maaapektuhan ang mga senior PNP officials ng demotion, nilinaw ni Remulla na walang mangyayaring demotion at hihintayin lamang ang kanilang pagreretiro. “It’s part of the plan…isa lang ito sa mga rekomendasyon ko,” aniya.

Bukod dito, iminumungkahi rin ng kalihim na pahabain ang minimum na taon bago maging kwalipikado para sa promosyon ng mga pulis, mula sa tatlong taon, gawin itong limang taon.
