Senator Christopher Lawrence Go led the distribution of cash assistance and relief goods in Padada, Davao del Sur.

“We will help you get back on your feet. We will rebuild your town,” Go said during his visit.

The town was severely damaged by the 6.9-magnitude earthquake last December 15.

A total of PHP15 million cash assistance from the Office of the President (OP) was also given to the municipalities of Padada (PHP10 million), Hagonoy (PHP3 million) and Sulop (PHP2 million).

Apart from that, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) extended a PHP3,000 cash assistance per family to the 1,948 affected families in this town.

Municipalities of Padada and Hagonoy received PHP5 million each from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

The National Housing Authority also gave assistance for the purchase of housing materials to families whose houses were totally damaged by the recent temblor.

The Department of Trade and Industry offered livelihood training to those who signified interest in putting up their own businesses.

Go, meanwhile, vowed to rebuild the damaged municipal hall and police station in this town.

“I will talk to President Rodrigo Duterte about it. I assure you that we will help you with it,” he added.

Almost 2,000 families were displaced by the 6.9-magnitude tremor which also caused millions of damages to properties.

Three fatalities were also recorded here as the rescue and operations on the three-story building concluded earlier this week. (PNA)
