La Union Governor Rafy Ortega-David has assured her Kaprobinsiaan that inclusivity will be upheld in all of the province’s projects and programs.
“Rest assured, we at the Provincial Government will create more programs that raise awareness and promote inclusivity in our province,” she wrote on Facebook.
This after the La Union Association of the Deaf and Pederasyon ng mga may Kapansanan sa La Union officers recently took their oaths before her.
“As your governor, I am committed to strengthening this community because I firmly believe that working with and listening to them inspires my creativity,” Ortega-David continued.
She also promised to protect the welfare and interests of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the province in observance of National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week on July 19 by providing them with support and equal chances in society.
According to the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), 60 members of the Pederasyon ng May Kapansanan ng La Union (PMKLU) from the province’s 20 local governments participated in an activity organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
It said the PSWDO and PMKLU used the exercise as a platform to educate the Kaprobinsiaan about people with disabilities and to motivate them to actively contribute to improving their economic and social conditions in society. During the said activity, a public forum was held and best PWD practices from local governments were also shared.
The PSWDO’s indoor games and singing competition were both enjoyed by PMKLU members, the PGLU said.
“The Provincial Government of La Union shall continue to uphold the rights and welfare of the PWDs and ensure that the province of La Union is for everyone and that it is truly inclusive,” it emphasized.
