The government has ensured a steady supply of coronavirus vaccines by September, according to Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the chief implementer of the National Task Force against Covid-19 (NTF).

Galvez, also the country’s vaccine czar, said the government has signed a purchase order for additional 10 million doses of Sinovac jabs to make sure there will be stable deliveries of Covid-19 vaccines up to 25 million doses beginning next month.

“Ang maganda po dito ay eto po mas mababa po ang presyo kaysa sa original price niya so ang nakikita natin ay medyo gumaganda po ang supply natin sa Sinovac, gumaganda po, steady (The good thing about this is that the price we got is much lower than the original price of it, so we can see that there is an improvement in the supply of Sinovac, it is steady),” he said during the pre-recorded Talk to the People of President Rodrigo Duterte Monday night.

He added that the manufacturer of the Pfizer vaccine might deliver about 5 million doses while Moderna might give around 3 to 4 million doses.

The Russian vaccine maker also promised to deliver the remaining 205,000 doses of Sputnik V Component II, which will be given to those who have already received the Component I shots, he said.

Galvez reported a total of 48,522,890 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been delivered to the country.

The total vaccine deliveries are composed of 27,969,530 doses of government-procured, 3,617,100 doses were combined orders of the local government units (LGUs) and the private sector, while the 13,297,120 doses were through COVAX facility, and 3,639,140 doses were donations from other countries.

“Makikita po natin na tumataas na po ang ating procured dahil kasi nakikita natin na nagiging stable na po yung deliveries ng ating mga vaccine (We see that our vaccine procurement has been increased as the deliveries of the jabs are becoming stable),” Galvez said.

The government, he said, targets to vaccinate some 77,139,058 eligible individuals out of the country’s total population of 110,198,654 Filipinos.

To date, the government has already deployed 41,626,760 doses of Covid-19 vaccines nationwide.

The Philippines has already administered a total of 30,693,019 doses with 17,495,300 individuals received their first shots and 13,197,698 are fully vaccinated.

Galvez said the government has activated a total of 1,684 vaccination sites nationwide with an average daily vaccination rate of 444,042 jabs. (PNA)
