HIGH RATINGS, BONUS LANG! ES: Public Interest, Gabay Sa Tamang Desisyon Ng Gobyerno

Ayon sa Malacañang, hindi sapat na batayan ang mga survey upang sukatin ang tunay na performance ng gobyerno, kasunod ng kamakailang ulat na may bahagyang pagbaba sa trust at approval ratings ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Sa isang pahayag ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, sinabi niya na ang tunay na liderato ay nakabatay sa paggawa ng tamang desisyon para sa kapakanan ng publiko, hindi sa pagsunod sa popularidad. “Public interest is the sole driver behind every executive decision, not the pursuit of high ratings in the next opinion polls,” dagdag pa niya.

Ayon kay Bersamin, ang public interest ang siyang pangunahing gumagabay sa bawat desisyon ng gobyerno, at hindi ang pagsusumikap na makamit ang mataas na ratings sa mga survey. “High popularity ratings are the bonus and not the bedrock of effective public service,” ani Bersamin.

Bagamat tinanggap ng Palasyo ang resulta ng Pulse Asia survey, binigyang-diin ni Bersamin na ang mga survey ay “dipstick readings” lamang ng kasalukuyang damdamin ng publiko. “But we believe that the governance scorecard should not be confined to polling alone. To consider surveys as the sole indicator is to take our focus away from the more important metrics, like employment, that reliably measure our progress as a nation,” aniya.

Patuloy na ipinagmalaki ng administrasyon ang kanilang dedikasyon sa pagpapabuti ng kabuhayan ng bawat Pilipino, pagpapalago ng ekonomiya, at pagtutok sa seguridad sa kinabukasan ng bansa.
